Seattle’s neighborhood councils make a difference!  They serve as a national model for community involvement and influence.  The Genesee-Schmitz Neighborhood Council represents a large group of people, which means that we can more effectively get information, accomplish things, and influence city council, departmental, and mayoral decisions on issues that matter to our neighborhood.  We join a vibrant and active group of surrounding and nearby neighborhood councils in West Seattle:  Admiral, Alaska Junction, Alki, Fauntleroy, Fairmount, Morgan Junction, and Roxbury-Westwood-Arbor Heights.  Collectively, they form the Southwest District Council, which represents the western half of West Seattle and has an even larger voice.
