West Seattle Transportation Coalition Inaugural Event – Please Post!!
Happy New Year!
As 2014 gets rolling, so does the WSTC!!
Late last year, you endorsed the West Seattle Transportation Coalition (WSTC), a Peninsula wide organization dedicated to advancing and improving all modes of transportation to benefit the West Seattle Peninsula.
Starting in November 2013, the WSTC held a rally to focus attention on looming transit changes. We attended critical hearings on Metro service cuts, and we held Listening Tour events in December meeting with citizens in Admiral, Alaska Junction, North Delridge, Morgan Junction and Westwood Village.
We’re excited to announce that our inaugural event is coming up. And, we ask for your help. Our key meeting with transportation representatives of the State, County and City is set for Wednesday January 14, 2014. We ask you to pass on the details of this important meeting to your constituents and members. Transportation is an important topic that affects all of us – whether we know it or not.
Here are the details:
What: WSTC Forum with State, County and City Representatives
When: January 14, 2014
Time: 6:30 pm
Place: Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, in the Theater
4408 Delridge Way SW
Seattle, WA 98106
(Bus 120, 125, 50 – plus parking lot and street parking)
The interim WSTC board believes that the answers we receive at this forum will help lay the path for our work in 2014. Seattle has a new Mayor and Councilmember. Both of them have very strong ideas and opinions on transportation. Our goal it to make sure that the ideas of the WSTC are integrated into any transportation plans they are creating.

I heard a rumor that this ice cream social will also focus on a possible play area at the park site there on Charlestown. Is this true? If so, how can I help? I can’t make it to the social but would love to get involved
The Parks Dept. has acquired the property thanks to GSNC’s efforts, but has no current plans for development of any kind. Development would require maintenance, and they don’t have the budget for that at this time. I am forwarding your email to our President, Mary Fleck, so that she can add your name to the list of people interested in future development of the property, should the Parks Dept. decide to move ahead at some point.
